Our team consists of Rene, American (Broncos) and Simon, British (not born to a team but settled on Jaguars), whose shared passion for (American) football led to the conception of the Very British Guide. This is probably because Simon fielded one too many questions about why he was daft enough to like a sport where the players "kept on stopping."
Between us we have somewhere around 90 years of fandom of the sport (Rene's dad had Broncos season tickets since 1961) and Simon even played on a Britball team in the 80s. We attend every UK NFL game in full fancy dress as well and spread the word to non-believers on the way as best we can. We also run a small UK business providing authentic American sports gear to UK fans for bargain prices.
We decided that as a team we needed to produce a different, quirky, and fun guide to American football focussing on the culture of the sport, and what makes it different to any other in the UK.
You're a very big part of our community! Our book is made just for you, but more likely your friends and family--absolute beginners to the great sport of American football. We'd love to hear from you, including stories of games you've attended in the States, or any other experiences you've had in your odyssey in following this quirky American sport!
We're all about promotions, primarily merch giveaways/draws because who doesn't like getting something for free?
Follow us on Facebook to be notified of any giveaways--we're going to be doing them periodically in the future.
Coming soon: Insta and (maybe) TikTok--hey, social media isn't our first language!
